Very pale straw color. Light toast and ripe pear aromas. Lively flavors of caramel apple and rope pear. Well balanced, with a rich fruit-and-caramel-oak finish.
Chehalem traces its history back to vineyard operations started by Harry and Judy Peterson-Nedry in 1980, at Ridgecrest Vineyard on Ribbon Ridge Road, northwest of Newberg, Oregon.
For years, grapes were sold to others while experimentation proceeded. Chehalem's first release was its 1990 Ridgecrest Pinot Noir.
Bill and Cathy Stoller joined the Peterson-Nedrys in the winery in 1993. Subsequently they began Stoller Vineyards--a new, densely planted vineyard on Stoller family farmlands at the tip of the Dundee Hills.
Corral Creek, adjacent to the Chehalem winery facility, was purchased by the Peterson-Nedrys and limited partners in 1995.
The original Ridgecrest, Stoller, and Corral Creek vineyards are Chehalem's three estate vineyards.
